“ My husband and I went to lunch for our 5th anniversary. It was our first time there! We called ahead of time to ensure that they could serve us the dinner menu even though it was lunch time. We had our 15-month old so we wanted to go for lunch but still have a "fancy" meal. First off, it's a pretty small restaurant and I can imagine that it would be pretty cozy when busy (it was not busy for lunch)! It's not a stuffy upscale steakhouse which we preferred! But the food is so so good. We split a tomahawk steak which we've done before at Angus Barn. This one was better- such a flavorful crust! We loved their mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Even the steak fries were unexpectedly fantastic. Harvey John's is a hidden gem! I hope they revise their lunch menu to include smaller portions steak and some dinner menu items. We hope to come back soon! ”
“ Everything about this place is impeccable. We had reservations at 7 at a different restaurant. We still didn’t get a table at 8:20, so we decided to leave. My husband called Harvey John’s and asked what time they close and they responded “9pm” but once they found out we have been waiting to be seated at a different place, they said they would keep the kitchen open for us. We arrived right before 9pm and was greeted at the door with nothing but smiles. The salad bar, steak, cocktails, and dessert were outstanding. The wait staff and John himself were friendly and so kind. We will definitely be back. This is our new favorite restaurant! ”
“ One of the friendliest, most comfortable, and delicious steakhouses you’ll ever go to. This place has a real southern charm from the atmosphere to the staff! We’ve been to a lot of steakhouses, and mostly they feel stuffy and too fancy and ritzy. Harvey-John’s has a southern elegance to it with Appalachian feel like you’re in a mountain cabin with authentic woodwork all over as well as wrought iron fixtures. This place is “come as you are” or “come as you like.” You will be accepted and served with kindness! I recommend a reservation. You can walk in, but expect to wait. Harvey-John’s is a great big city taste in a small town! ”
“ Super delicious steaks, made exactly as requested. Salad bar was a hit! Amy our server was super welcoming and did a great job. If you’re passing through Angier this place is a must! ”
“ Definetly not what we expected as far as atmosphere and decor but that's not a bad thing. Large open area with a rustic cowboy feel to it. Hostess complimented my wife's outfit so we were off to a great start. Service was fantastic, Kylie was sweet, attentive, and answered our many questions. Started off with their Bacon Bomb Meatballs as an appetizer. Kylie informed us that these were more like sausage balls rather than meatballs which was fine. Great presentation and they were super delicious. They came with a bone marrow gravy or a BBQ glaze and both were excellent compliments. Small salad bar with all the basics which were very fresh. Bacon bits were real bacon and I think I counted 6 dressings. Main courses were filet mignon and a wagyu steak with a shrimp skewer on a bed of chimi churri. Steaks were properly cooked based on our requests, medium, and were melt in your mouth fantastic. I learned that I am not a chimi churri fan but it did not deter from the taste of the steak. Shrimp skewers consisted of 6 large grilled shrimp which were super flavorful and succulent. Large loaded baked potatoes were delightful and the chocolate mousse cake capped off a wonderful meal. Expensive but worth it. Great food. Wonderful staff and a welcoming environment. They also source their beef from a butcher shop next door so you can't get fresher meat than here. Overall a great addition to the area, we will be back! ”
“ Really great steak house. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu. Was a very busy night but that did not cause any issues. Nice selection of meats to choose from at a fair price. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The mushroom side dish was very good and just right for two. This was a great meal for the cost. Good choice for date night. ”
“ Nice local spot to enjoy a steak dinner. Ordered two NY Strip steaks with compound butter on top served alongside mashed potatoes and the other with Parmesan risotto. Shared a delicious side of Mac&Cheese. The salad bar was fresh and quality toppings were available. Kudos to the chefs for their cooking skills and the service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Michelle served us with a smile and even brought out the dessert tray for us to observe and even though it was tempting, we were much too full to indulge. Thank you, Michelle for ensuring our meals were cooked to our liking and refreshing our beverages without asking. We will return again, perhaps for lunch next time. :) ”
“ Another fantastic meal at Harvey John’s! We’ve been dining here since it opened and every visit has been consistently excellent. Whether it’s a special occasion like birthdays, Mother’s Day, or Valentine’s Day, Harvey John’s never disappoints. The steaks are always cooked to perfection, and the staff is incredibly welcoming, polite, and professional. One thing I especially appreciate is how clean the restaurant is—it really stands out and adds to the overall experience. We’ll definitely continue supporting this gem. Small businesses like Harvey John’s deserve our support! ”
